Coaching, English Language Support, Content Support for Public Speaking

Sales Manager Jonas Widell saw an opportunity for targeted communication support when one of his account managers was asked to give the opening address at an upcoming client event.

 

+ PROJECT

Prepare a key employee to speak at an event, including concepting and drafting content, and coaching for delivery, over a series of one-on-one coaching sessions.

+ CHALLENGES

Building to comfortable and confident delivery in the individual’s non-native language.

+ APPROACH

It was important to first get clear on what the individual’s content objectives were and work to create a base script that they really felt connected with, and didn’t feel forced. This meant working mainly with phrasing and vocabulary that they were familiar with, so as not to create linguistic obstacles, while introducing a few new strategic items to bring polish to their overall message. Integrated practice while working through the content was essential to finding natural phrasing that clicked. Once the content was established, more rigorous practice with a focus on intonation raised their confidence level significantly.
